I took a die grinder and installed a "scotchbrite" type disc in it, then went over the flywheel in a counterclockwise direction. I read to do that with flywheels and rotors. Don't know whether it made any difference. I have seen that a .020" shim is available that goes between the crankshaft and flywheel. When is the shim needed? I can understand that the surface of the flywheel will essentially be moved towards the engine the amount of the resurfacing, but I don't see how the little amount will make any difference.
